Guidelines Archaeological Interventions

On 1 January 2010, the first Guidelines for Archaeological Excavations in Austria were published by the Federal Monuments Authority. Further developed and expanded according to the state of the art and science, the Guidelines Archaeological Interventions have become a standard work. The amendment to the Monument Protection Act, in force since 1 September 2024, made a comprehensive revision necessary. The first English translation of the Guidelines corresponded to the 5^th edition in 2018. Due to the extensive revisions that have taken place since, the present version has been prepared by the Federal Monuments Authority (translation: Andreas Picker). This is intended to meet the interest in the guidelines often expressed by non-German-speaking experts.
